I was in a taxi from the airport with an old man from Jordon.
"I am not Egyptian," he said. "I am from Jordon. You speak little Arabic?"
"Shwaira," I said (a little.) "My husband is Palestinian." This is the standard greeting for all men.
"In my religion," he said. "You are my sister. I hope you and your husband come to Jordon one day. You are very welcome."
